My name is Svetlana. I’m from Riga, the capital of Latvia. Riga is very nice town near Baltic Sea. I’m glad and proud owner of three South Russian Sheepdogs (Ovtcharkas), Ridž Ara, Beliy Veter Taina and Yezhevika Svet Moi. I’m working with dogs near 10 years, but with this breed only 4 years. Ridž is my first SRO. I want to introduce You my dogs, to tell about this nice and strong breed, not so famous but colossal. At my page You can find Show results of SRO and information about new Show time. And may be You also  fall in love in this breed.

I have met these dogs similar to polar bears many years ago. Then, as however and today, this breed was small also we very seldom had an opportunity to see them on show. There can be it descended because SRO has independent character and many owners were not able or did not want to work with dogs how it is required for such strong, clever and very independent dog. SRO is not toy Teddy bear; he is a serious dog with extraordinary interesting behavior. But, to learn to SRO's soul, it is necessary enter to his trust. Probably therefore I so love this breed. The care of their perfect long wool is simple, but demands patience and work. If all this you have - I congratulate, you can have the friend, partner, bodyguard, show dog and all this in one person. SRO never ceases to surprise.

South Russian sheepdog very much trusts to the owner, this dog are very much attached to owner, to change of the owner tolerates very hardly. SRO are perfectly trained and are always glad to show to the owner on what they are capable.

Now some words about my dogs. Ridž Ara is male, he was born 25.08.1999. He have great pedigree. His father Dampy Balandis is Champion of Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Russia. Also he was Junior World Winner in 1998 and European Winner in 1999. Ridz’s mother Sar-Erika is Champion of Latvia. Ridz also is Champion of Latvia, Russia, Estonia, Byelorussia, European Junior Winner’2000, Poland Junior Winner, and Latvian Winner’2002. But he is young and all is ahead. My second dog,  Beliy Veter Taina is young female. She was born 24.01.2001 in kennel “Beliy Veter” near Moscow. She is very nice and her show carrier is only start. Her parents Tsarina and Russkiy Zhemchug Yenisei are not so famous but very nice dogs. And Taina also is a beauty. Yezhevika, at home we call her Zhu-Zhu is very promissed young female, who I keep for myself from my litter from Ridž Ara and Beliy Veter Taina. She will have her bfirst show in Palanga this summer.

Ridž was having puppies fourfold. When we mate him we want to receive puppies with strong bones, nice head and perfect temperament. While that we do not adhere to the certain line of breeding, SRO are very thin in Latvia and basically it is necessary to struggle for conservation population of breed in our country. But I very much am interested by bloods of kennel "Lyutiy" Ukraine. And into Taina's pedigree there are dogs from this kennel.

Ridž is really nice show dog, he have a lot of titles. But for me Dog Show is no only venturous game, it is an opportunity to show these remarkable dogs as it is possible for a lot of the people, to acquaint the people with this breed. Our performances have result. Three years ago, when Ridge for the first time was shown on show in Latvia was only 5 SRO. Three years are passed and now them already 12. It is a little, but it is progress.

I must to tell, that SRO perfectly lives together with other domestic animals. Except for two South Russian sheep dogs at us lives Kerry-blue terrier. Ridž and Taina very much are friends with him. But it is yet not all. When at shows Ridž sees Kerry, he simply runs to greet them. He is so glad to see them. Terrier's owners already consider him as the honorable member of Kerry-club.
